Ancillary Texts

The four most popular film magazines I have come across are Premiere, Total Film, Studio Live and Empire. When analysing these film magazines it is clear that there are a lot of similarities between them all. Although, if we look at the magazine premiere the layout is quite different from the rest of the magazines and seems to be quite plain compared to the rest. On the magazines we can see that all of the characters on the front cover are in costume which shows that this is a film magazine, this therefore means that attention will be drawn towards the magazine as the faces and costumes will be familiar. Apart from premiere looking at all the other magazines they all seem to custom their front pages to fit a certain film type. For example Total film has the main character from Avatar and the background surrounding has been edited to be almost like what the sky would be like in the film Avatar. Every one of these magazines follow the typical conventions of a magazine. They all have the typical masthead, main picture, logo, headlines etc.

Trailer Update

Due to me needing to have my hair done I have had to make sure that I have made an appointment this Wednesday 28/01/2015 due to me doing recording on Saturday 31/01/2015. This is purely because due to me having my roots dyed I have thought it through and realised if I have to do more than one days worth of recording or if I have to re-record things you would be able to see the difference in my hair on camera which will therefore be really unprofessional and looks as though I haven't thought it through about my actors hair and makeup, therefore now when it comes to recording it will look as though it has all been done at the same time as you will not be able to see any changes, especially within my hair. The reason I had to think think this through was all down to continuity editing.
due to my roots being dyed blonde and my hair being cut this means that my hair will be shorter and my hair will look a lot blonder to what it was before. Therefore due to continuity editing when it comes to recording there is going to be a massive difference in my hair when it comes to recording meaning if I recorded before hand it would be obvious I had recorded on different days due to the change in hair, this would also cause issues if I had to re-record scenes as one minute id have longer hair with my roots showing and then it would then cut to a scene and my hair would be shorter and my blonde roots would have been done on completely different days. Therefore the scenes wouldn't flow or fit together as it would be obvious things hadn't been recorded at the same time and it wouldn't look very professional either. The character would be wearing either the same clothes or different ones but you would be able to see a massive difference in the hair as you would be able to see both the change in length and style. It would be the first thing to stand out to the audience as it something really visible and easy to spot.

Production logos developed on fireworks.

Due to me hand drawing some ideas for my production ideas I then had done a questionnaire and got feed back on which one my audience had preferred. I have now gone further ahead and developed it even further by producing my favorite logo on fireworks to make it look more professional but so I can also add it into my trailer when creating it. I am going to do again another questionnaire as I am unsure as to which one of these I like best.The questionnaire I am about to create is going to consist of one question and one only, this will simply be to find out which logo my audience prefer and why.

Intertitles

Here I have started to create my own inter titles. Inter titles are used within a trailer to help either tell a very small story or to ask the audience a question. Inter titles are printed narration or portion of dialogue that simply is flashed on the screen between particular scenes. Here I have found a background that fits the genre of my trailer. The background almost looks aged and mysterious, it is almost really plain but has a lot of detail which means it will create the right effect for my inter title but at the same time will not draw my audiences attention away from the text that appears on screen. The text that has been used is almost very ghostly and slightly distorted, this again helps give off the right effect for my genre. The text that has been used is perfect due to it not looking to cartoony which therefore makes it look really unprofessional. I personally think due to the slight distortion to the mature text it helps give it that professional look without it looking too 'cheesy.'  I got this text from a website called 'Dafont.' The font selected was called blacklisted.

Final Pitch

My final pitch is a horror film called 'Best Friends.' The story line is based around two best friends called Sandi and Jamie that are seen to be really close with each other. They would be seen to be the stereotypical best friends that do everything and tell each other everything. Everything seems to be perfect until one day Jamie over hears a suspicious conversation Sandi is having on the phone. It seems to be that Sandi is keeping a serious secret from her which leads to Jamie going out of her way to find out what it is which then leads to Jamie letting the devil enter her body to help not only torture Sandi but kill her as they both believe she deserves to die for what she has done. Throughout the trailer we learn that the girls friendship starts to exculate due to Jamie finding out Sandis secret but Sandi herself does not know this and just thinks Jamie is being really strange. Sandi then learns that all of a sudden Jamie is out to kill her and its all down to what Sandi has done, later on through out Sandi then learns that Jamie has teamed up with the devil and its evil ways as they both believe Sandi should die due to what she has done. Therefore Sandi needs to go as far as she possibly can to get the devil out of Jamies body for her to save there friendship and for her to put what she has done wrong right.

Arranging to film with my actors.

Here I have print screened a text that I had sent to my friend about arranging a day to film for my trailer. As you can see I have explained to her due to weather conditions we may just have to do indoor scenes on Saturday 31/01/2015 but if everything is fine due to the weather we will continue to do outdoor scenes. As you can see I checked the weather forecast today prier texting my friend. She seems happy with helping me record on this day which therefore means I will then be ready to edit as soon as possible.

 If the weather stays as it says this will be perfect has it means as I can get as much recording as possible done in one day, both indoor and outdoor scenes.

Make-up

Here I have got some examples of make-up I shall be using on my actors within my trailer. This is the main make up that shall be used. This make up will be used on both characters, Jamie and Sandi, this make up will be used on Sandi to help the audience feel her emotion from when she has been crying, it will help the audience to feel the fear she is going through. Again, this make up will also be used on Jamie but this time it will be on her when she is meant to be possessed. This time the make up you see here will be extremely more drastic. I am going to do some practice make up before I do the real thing and see how that turns out.  When I practiced doing my makeup to get the effect I did I simply used mascara and eyeliner and then added water around my eyes and then started to rub them which helped to exaggerate my black eyes. I did exactly the same for my lipstick but this time watered it down a lot more for it to smudge.
