Music Permission

Due to me changing the music I wanted to use within my trailer I had to message the  owner of the new music I had found to again ask for permission. Below I have added the youtube ink to the music I would like to now use. I really feel this piece fits in with my genre andhelps build tension when it starts picking up the pace. I feel this will help to build the atmosphere for my audience when watching my trailer.
For some reason it didnt allow me to embed the music so I just added the link.

Here is the message I had sent to Helmut Hampton the owner of the music I would like to use:

Due to me having a deadline for my trailer I couldn't wait too long for a reply from Helmut Hampton and since I hadn't received one I had come to an alternative that so I didn't break any copyright laws that I would use a programme called audacity to slightly change the pitch to this music which means I will then therefore be able to use it within my trailer. The music that I edit within audacity can be my back up music in case I do not ever end up receiving an email back from Helmut Hampton, but if I do I will then therefore replace it with the original which I would prefer.

Here I will show you what I had done to slightly change the music within audacity:
Since I didn't want to majorly change the music I only very slightly changed things so there was a small difference otherwise if I majorly change it it may lead to it not being any good to use in my trailer as it may no longer give off the same effect and give off the right atmosphere.

First of all I had simply imported the music that I was going to edit. Next all I did was simply highlight the whole track and went to the option at the top of the screen 'Effect.' Next I selected 'change pitch.'

Once I had selected this option this option box had appeared on screen which therefore allowed me to change the 'Percentage range' meaning I could adjust how high or low I wanted the pitch. Again as I said before due to me not wanting a major change I went with a change of 2.464 which allowed you to hear a very slight change in pitch. You can hear the change in some places better than others.

Next to be on the safe side I decided to change the tempo very slightly too. Again, to do this I simply highlighted the track again and went to the same option at the top 'Effect.' I then selected the option 'Change tempo.'
Once I had selected this option I then had this box appear which again allowed me to pick how high or low I wanted the tempo to be changed. Again, I picked to change it very slightly which was again a percentage change of 2.464. Again as I say overall you can hear a very slight change in both the pitch and tempo, you can hear it again better in some places than others. After that I simply exported the track therefore meaning I was then able to use it.

Hand drawn mock up of my front cover

Here I have created a mock up of how I potentially would like the front cover of my magazine to look. I am going to make sure that I follow both the typical codes and conventions of a magazine. This includes things such as the masthead, slogans, cover lines, headlines, pugs, bar codes, banners etc.The colour, text and positioning of things may potentially change when it comes to creating my actual thing as I may look at it differently and prefer something else or even have another idea.

Insidious Campaign

Due to social media being a very big thing this was a very successful way of promoting the movie Insidious. As we can see when we look at all 3 of these print products the images that had been used were all very similar and consistent which will been seen to be part if the house style but also for the target market to recognise the images when they're seen again. The DVD cover and the poster itself are both the same due to the images that have been used the image on the front of the DVD cover just replicates the poster itself. We can see that the image that has been used for both of these is an image of the main character of the film, then looking at the magazine cover we can see that another one of the main characters from the film have been used. Using the main characters on the front of things mean the audience automatically connect with them and get a sense of what they're like and maybe even the storyline behind it all. Again looking at both the poster and DVD when it comes to the text we can see that all of the same fonts have been used this is all down to the housestyle, but then along with that we can also see that the colours that have been used have been consistent, this will therefore be recognisable to the audience when they see these colors and text elsewhere. Looking at the san-serif font that has been used for the title of the film it almost looks like it has been used with something such as type writer which almost makes the text seem like its serious and it stands out due to it being bold. This fits the genre of the movie due to serious, spooky events taking place to the young child. The image that has been used on the poster and DVD cover has low key lighting and our attention is immediately drown towards the child's eye as they stand out, this gives off that something could be wrong with the child and he may have a dark side. Looking at the image on the front of the magazine colour again we also have low key lighting but if you haven't watched the film it leaves you questioning who this strange figure is. Due to the lighting and costume of this character we can tell from just the look of it that they aren't a good character within the film itself. We can see within the magazine cover it has stuck to some of the house style of the movie itself. The same style font but then also the same colours have been used, white and red.

First Draft Of My Trailer

Here I have uploaded my very first draft of my trailer. It has taken me several attempts to get things right with it. Before this draft I had tried a variety of different things and the development of it was very weak, a lot needed to be done to it, I need to crop videos, add music, transitions and many other things. I had to add things such as intertitles to help give it that professional effect. Before I got to this first draft I had to edit a lot of things to at least make it half decent. I personally dont like to post things when they are really bad so thats why Ive waited until I can get it as good as this, there is still quite a few things that I need to change on my trailer due to things such as sound balance, the length of intertitles, effects etc. I originally really struggled when it came to finding the correct music to use in my trailer. The music I was originally going to use was first of all too short in length, secondly I originally thought it would go well with all my footage and the story line of my film but when I had put it into imovie it didnt go well at all. This then led to me searching for 2 days for the perfect soundtrack to go with my movie trailer. Due to me struggling to get permission to use the music I have I have edited the pitch slightly in audacity so it's legal to use in my trailer. Due to this being my first draft I am going to go back and edit a few things which may lead to a few more drafts but if not I will soon be posting my final trailer with all the edited parts etc.

Flickr photos

When it comes to creating my print products I am going to have to have some images to use. Here I have created a small slide show on flickr with the images I have taken. Due to Jamie being the main character within my film I have decided it would be best to use just Jamie to be on the front of all my print products.

Planning for photoshoots

When it comes to my photoshoot I am planning on making my pictures all quite similar, I am just going to change a lot of the costume and the makeup which will therefore then allow me to edit a lot with my images which is the plan. For example, i want to do things such as merge images together. Also, the reason being me only taking pictures of Phoebe (myself) is because Phoebe is actually the main character of the film and I want to try and show the two split personalities she ends up having.
